Every trade we run, in plain sight
One service, one page. No umbrella packages hiding what things cost, no bait pages that funnel you to a sales script. Find your problem below, read exactly how we handle it, and call when you are ready. If you cannot find your problem, call anyway. We like the weird ones.
A note on how pricing works everywhere on this list. Diagnostic visits for broken equipment carry one simple upfront rate that we tell you on the phone before anyone drives. Pricing visits for new work are free. Every job gets its number in writing before work starts, the trucks are stocked for same-visit repairs on the common failures, and the 10% discount for teachers and service personnel applies to all of it.
Cooling
AC Repair
Warm air, short cycling, leaks, breakers that keep tripping, or a unit that is simply dead on arrival. We diagnose by meter and gauge, not by guess, hand you the cause and the cost in writing, and fix it fast, any hour of the day. Most cooling repairs wrap the same visit because the trucks carry the parts this climate actually burns through.
AC Installation
A properly sized system for your actual house, not a rule of thumb off your square footage. We run the numbers on your rooms, windows, ductwork, and insulation, walk you through good, better, and best options, then install and test until the readings match the spec. Oversized systems short cycle and undersized ones never rest. Sizing is the whole game.
AC Replacement
When the old unit owes you nothing, we swap it clean. Old refrigerant recovered legally, old system hauled off, pad reset and leveled, new equipment set, charged, and verified, usually within a single day. You get a system matched to your ductwork and your budget, plus an honest talk about efficiency ratings that actually pay off here versus the ones that only look good on a sticker.
Heating
Furnace Installation
A new furnace sized and vented correctly, with gas connections, combustion, and carbon monoxide numbers all verified before we call it finished. Venting shortcuts are where cheap furnace installs go wrong, so we do not take them. We also walk you through the filter, the shutoff, and the thermostat so the system is yours, not a mystery in a closet.
Furnace Repair
Ignition trouble, flame sensors, blower problems, strange smells, or heat that cannot keep up on cold mornings. We find the actual cause, show you the failed part, and explain how to keep the problem from coming back. Cold-snap mornings are when furnaces quit around here, and the 24/7 line means you are not waiting until Monday to be warm.
Furnace Replacement
Aging equipment out, the right system in. We help you weigh repair against replacement with real math: the cost of this fix, the odds of the next one, and what a new system saves you monthly. Plenty of customers hear us say keep it a few more years. When replacement genuinely wins, we make the swap quick and clean.
Furnace Tune-Up
A detailed pre-season check that catches small problems while they are still cheap and keeps your manufacturer warranty happy. We inspect ignition, burners, heat exchanger, blower, electrical connections, and safety controls, then tell you plainly what we found. A fall tune-up is the cheapest heat insurance sold in the Carolinas.
Heat Pump Services
Install, repair, and maintenance for the systems that do both jobs. Heat pumps are the workhorse of Carolina winters, and they fail differently than furnaces: reversing valves, defrost boards, auxiliary heat that runs when it should not and quietly doubles your bill. We test both directions, heating and cooling, before we leave, every time.
Ductless Mini-Splits
Ductless Mini Splits
The overview page: what ductless systems do well, where they beat central air, what zoning really means, and what a setup involves from wall to wall. Mini-splits are the right answer for bonus rooms, garages, additions, sunrooms, and older houses without duct space. Start here if you are exploring, then drill into install, replacement, or repair.
Mini-Split Installation
Bonus rooms, garages, additions, workshops, and that one room central air never conquered. Head units mounted level and clean, line sets run tidy and sleeved, condensate handled properly, zones dialed in. We install Mitsubishi and other major ductless brands and we treat the line-set routing as part of your house, not an afterthought stapled to the siding.
Mini-Split Replacement
Old or undersized ductless equipment swapped for units that actually keep up with the room. Early-generation mini-splits lose efficiency and struggle in our humidity, and some were never sized for the space they serve. We reuse what is worth reusing, replace what is not, and leave you with zones that hold their setpoint through a Carolina August.
Mini-Split Repair
Blinking lights, ice on the coil, water dripping down the wall, remotes that do nothing. Mini-split faults announce themselves in code, and we speak the language for all the major brands. Most ductless repairs come down to drainage, refrigerant, or boards, and we carry the diagnostic gear to tell you which one within the first visit.
Air Quality and Comfort
Air Balancing
Hot rooms upstairs, cold rooms down the hall, and a thermostat that swears everything is fine. We measure airflow room by room with real instruments, then fix the distribution problem: damper adjustments, duct corrections, register changes, whatever the numbers call for. Balancing is a measurement job, and it is one of our favorite trades because the before-and-after is dramatic.
Smart Thermostat Installation
Installed, wired right, connected to your phone, and explained until you are comfortable driving it. Smart thermostats save real money when configured for your specific system, especially heat pumps with backup heat, where a wrong setting quietly burns cash all winter. We handle the common-wire issue most Charlotte-area homes hit and set schedules that fit how you actually live.
Humidifier Installation
Whole-home humidity for dry Carolina winters: fewer static shocks, happier sinuses, wood floors that stop creaking, and heat that feels warmer at a lower setpoint. A furnace-mounted humidifier costs little to run and changes how the whole house feels from December through February. We size it to your square footage and set it up to run only when it should.
Humidifier Repair
Humidifiers that stopped putting moisture in the air, or started putting it where it does not belong. Scale-clogged panels, stuck solenoids, and bypass dampers left in the wrong season position are the usual suspects. We repair what is fixable, tell you honestly when a unit is done, and check the water connection so a small drip never becomes a furnace problem.
Humidifier Replacement
Worn-out humidifiers swapped for models matched to your system and your square footage. Technology moved a long way past the drum units of the 90s: modern steam and evaporative models hold a setpoint precisely and stop feeding scale into your furnace cabinet. If yours is more crust than component, replacement usually beats another repair.
Dehumidifier Services
Carolina summers are muggy in a way visitors do not believe until August. Whole-home dehumidification keeps the sticky out of the air, the mildew off the closets, and the crawlspace from feeding moisture into everything above it. Your AC dehumidifies as a side effect. A dedicated unit does it on purpose, and the difference shows up in comfort and in the house itself.
Air Filtration Systems
Serious filtration for dust, dander, and Carolina’s legendary pollen, matched to your system’s airflow so it cleans the air without choking the blower. Slapping the densest filter on the shelf into a system not built for it drops airflow and raises bills. We match media cabinets and filter ratings to your equipment so you get clean air and healthy static pressure.
Air Purification Systems
Purification that targets what filters cannot catch: odors, smoke, and the fine particles that ride straight through standard media. UV and active purification systems mounted in the ductwork treat the whole house, not one room. Useful for allergy households, pet homes, and anyone who wants the inside air cleaner than the outside air, which around here is a low bar in April.
When it cannot wait
Emergency HVAC
No heat in January, no cooling in July, water where it should not be, or a smell that made you shut the system off. We answer 24/7, a real person picks up, and the emergency costs the same as the appointment because charging you extra for bad timing never sat right with us. Tell us what is happening and we will tell you what to do before the truck arrives.
Before you pick a page
What if I do not know which service I need?
Call and describe the symptoms. Warm air, strange noise, water, smell, high bill, rooms that never match the thermostat. We narrow it down over the phone at no charge and send the right parts on the truck the first time. Half our repeat customers started with a call that began with the words I have no idea what this thing is doing.
Do you charge to come out and look?
Pricing visits are free. We look at the job, give you an honest number in writing, and you decide. Diagnostic calls for broken equipment have a simple upfront rate we tell you before we roll.
Are you licensed and insured?
Fully licensed and insured for the work we take on, on both sides of the state line. Between the two of us we carry 25 years of hands-on trade experience, which is the part that actually shows up in the workmanship: clean brazing, tidy line sets, systems commissioned with instruments instead of vibes. Ask us anything about credentials on the phone.
Do you handle both sides of the state line?
Yes. Home base is Fort Mill, SC, and our 30-mile radius covers York, Lancaster, and Chester counties in South Carolina plus Mecklenburg, Union, and Gaston counties in North Carolina. Full list on the service areas page.
Can I finance a big job?
Qualifying installations and larger repairs can go through Optimus Financing. Apply online in minutes, details on the financing page. Teachers and service personnel also get 10% off any visit.

Two new Rheems. Two thumbs up.
Repair or replace: the honest math
Here is the framework we actually use, out loud, in your driveway. Take the cost of the repair and weigh it against the age of the system. A minor fix on an eight-year-old unit is easy: fix it. A compressor on a fifteen-year-old system running yesterday’s refrigerant is a different conversation, because that money buys a big head start on equipment that will cut your power bill every month instead of limping toward the next failure.
Efficiency matters more in this climate than most. A system that runs from May to October has a lot of hours to either save or waste money. We will show you the realistic difference on your usage, not a brochure fantasy, and if the math says keep the old unit, that is what we will tell you.
Two things we never do in that conversation. We never invent urgency, because a system that limps through one more season when you need it to is a fine answer and we will help it get there. And we never quote a replacement without offering the repair path too, priced in writing, so the decision is a comparison instead of a leap.
Whichever way it goes, financing through Optimus is there for the big number, the 10% teacher and service-personnel discount applies either way, and the pricing visit costs nothing. Bring us your worst-sounding system and get a real answer. That part is free.
